Not just a pair of old jeans…

In past years the only items that have been denim in my wardrobe have been jeans, I’ve never had the confidence to pull off anything other than them. But this year a couple of little dresses caught my eye and they’ve now become part of my summer wardrobe, or at least what’s left of summer anyway!

My first favourite is from NewLook and this dress proves you definitely need to try before you buy. I’m a size 14/16 depending on what shop I’m in, however as this dress had no zips I put on the size 16 straight away. It was a tent on me. Massive was an understatement, so then I tried the 14, then the 12. I bought this dress in a size 12, I am not a size 12! REMEMBER try before you buy! Buy the dress or outfit to fit you not the other way around.

This dress is so lightweight, covers the bappys and perfect for summer. The only problem that I had, was I had to go straight back out to shop and buy a really long cardigan to help style this for my modesty. I quickly learnt that everytime I bent down to pick little one up or grab something out of the bottom of the pushchair, I was flashing my granny pants to the whole of Somerset!

The other dress I fell in LOVE with a few months ago, but only ever saw it in a size 8 or 10 in my local Quiz. Until one day when I was just window shopping, I saw it there. The last one, in my size! I quickly grabbed it and tried it on, because of the stretch it has the size 14 was perfect, and it had pockets! A dress with pockets! I was in love. The zip detail on this is functional as well as super cute. This is my favourite dress up/dress down dress, it was perfect for a beach day but also great as a date night outfit, when paired with chunky heels and a cheeky choker.

I don’t know if I’ll still be able to carry the first dress through to autumn, but I already know how excited I am to pair the zip dress up with a long sleeve top and a pair of tights for the winter months!
