Here it comes February 14th. Valentines, the day of love. But for who? I used to think it was just one big money making day, a day where you buy cheap tat for someone because you’re supposed to. I used to think it was quite cringe worthy actually. But in recent years my mind has been changed. As a mother, a full time worker and a blogger I’ve realised that making time for each other in a marriage, a relationship or even a friendship can be few and far between sometimes. And so this day where you celebrate love is actually quite special. It is an excuse, but a good excuse I think. To stop. To appreciate love. And no I’m not just talking about love in a relationship I’m also talking about self love. Treating yourself because you deserve it. Because you are always good enough.
Another big part of Valentines is underwear. Feeling sexy. But again for who? There’s a stigma surrounding Valentines that you must look incredible for that special someone but what if that someone special is you? One of my other favourite underwear bloggers @lingeriemama wrote an amazing piece for one of my most loved underwear companies about changing the V-day to Me Day. And it was such a good read I’ll copy the link at the bottom of this blog, I loved it so much. It had so many YES GIRL moments in it. Valentines is just as much about taking the time to love yourself, treat yourself, please yourself as much as it is for anyone else.
There’s also a massive taboo around pleasing yourself sexually at Valentines, no one ever really talks about for fear of embarrassment but it’s completely normal. If you want to experiment sexually for yourself you do it. Your vagina needs love too! And also I’d like to add if you do want to treat that special someone, do it for you, you do not have to be pressured into doing anything that makes you uncomfortable because its ‘Valentines’.
So if you’re looking to feel a bit sexy, welcome to my Valentines underwear haul from the lovely ladies at Brastop. Although I’ve been gifted these sets everything I write is my opinion and I will also be bringing you a brand that’s new to me and my fuller bust so keep reading!
Firstly one of my all time favourites as you all probably know. Curvy Kate. This set is one of their more raunchy sets with it’s balconette style and its black/cobalt colour. This one certainly isn’t just for the day to day! I’ve received my Tease set in a 36G and the suspender briefs in an 18. The set runs up from a 30D to a 38J and the briefs from a size 8 to size 20. This is definite winner for V-day for me, with a balconette I feel covered but still sassy and the high waist suspender briefs are perfect for when you feel like you want a bit of extra coverage, the whole set comes in for just £48.50. I’ve paired this set with a lovely satin kimono from Primark at the bargain price of just £12 and the fish net hold ups from Ann Summers which are currently buy one get one half price!
My second set is a brand I was yet to try, Pour Moi. This set only currently goes up to a G cup but actually I thought was rather generous on the cup. I again received a 36G and a size 18 briefs and XL suspender belt. To start with I was a little unsure on this set as the cut out are very revealing to the areas that I struggle with personally, like my mum tum. But after trying on and realising not only how beautiful this set is but also how soft and comfortable it is, I felt like a queen. The whole set comes in at £58 and personally I think the suspender belt really does complete this set. The lace is so beautiful and when paired with hold ups and heels I felt incredible.
Saving what I feel is the best for last is the incredibly seductive Scantilly Peek A Boo in red. This set just screams Valentines and I’ve lusted after this set for so long! It also comes in a few different colours and is so beautifully constructed, perfect for bigger busts. This set runs from a 30DD to a 40HH and the briefs and suspender from a Small to Extra Large. I received this set in a 34GG and briefs and suspender a Large. This particular set is in the Brastop sale for £66. A this is price it is definitely an investment but I think so, so worth it. Some of my other Scantilly pieces I’ve had for a couple of years and even with regular wear they last so well and so individually beautiful. I have styled this set with another set of hold ups from Ann Summers and some cheeky Valentines bits that I found in Flying Tiger locally.
So there we have it my Valentines haul! Some of the pieces may seem a bit more pricey than what you might be used to seeing me blog about, but in this case price 100% reflects quality. I wouldn’t recommend it unless I genuinely loved it! As always I will link each item below, so have a browse and let me know your Valentines plans. How are you treating yourself? Is it a cuppa with the girls or a nice bath and book to yourself, or are you and your partner doing something a little special? I’m just hoping my husband will do the washing up! Let me know in the comments lovelies .x
